Hi — I'm Hólmsteinn.
I like turning messy data and processes into things that actually run. I finished my BSc in Industrial Engineering at the University of Iceland in 2025 — and I've kept building ever since, more and more with AI.
Who I am
At Orka náttúrunnar (ON Power) I worked in the Technical Development team. My main project was a co-led rebuild of an engineering-drawings database of more than 30,000 documents, across internal teams and outside contractors — I wrote the document-processing scripts and the API-key integrations that connected the systems, and analysed resource flow through the Hellisheiði geothermal plant.
On my own time I build software and games end to end: a browser-based 3D dungeon-crawler in Three.js with its own level editor, a 300-piece modular asset kit and a character-animation system, plus a desktop "Command Center" productivity system over a markdown knowledge base. I build these increasingly with AI-assisted development using Claude Code, which has become one of the things I do best.
I moved to Gothenburg in 2026 and I'm studying Swedish. I'm looking for work in data, energy, or software and game development — ideally somewhere that cares about the people it builds for.
What I'm good at
Analytical engineer
Operations research & optimisation, simulation, forecasting, statistics and process analysis — turning data into decisions.
AI-assisted builder
I ship real software with Claude Code and agentic-LLM workflows — an edge that's becoming the way modern building works.
Fast study, end to end
I pick up new tools quickly (TypeScript, Three.js, Blender) and build the whole thing — editor, assets, animation, automation.
Experience & education
Orka náttúrunnar (ON Power) — Technical Development
Co-led the 30,000-document drawings-database rebuild; wrote document-processing scripts and API-key integrations; analysed resource flow through the Hellisheiði geothermal plant; supported R&I on a separator-water project.
Team Spark (Formula Student) — Finance Manager / Team Leader
Ran the team budget and supervised new members of a Formula Student engineering team.
BSc Industrial Engineering — University of Iceland
180 ECTS. Operations research & optimisation, simulation, information engineering (SQL, Power BI), programming (Java, Python), project management, engineering economics, material & energy balances.
Earlier roles
Ölgerðin (production operator) · Securitas (security, hospitals & Harpa) · Seltjörn nursing home (care assistant) · Laugardalslaug (lifeguard) · Manhattan Events (events contractor) — a long habit of dependable, detail-heavy work.
Skills
How I work
On anything meant to ship, I'd rather do it properly once than patch it forever.
Player- and user-respecting design over quick or manipulative wins.
End-to-end working systems, not slideware — from idea to something you can use.
The tools keep changing; I keep picking them up. Curiosity is the constant.
